When casting “real people” campaigns - Dina does not cast actors to portray these stories. DB Casting searches, digs, and does whatever it takes to find the story. The DB Casting team is made up of creative collaborators who work directly with their clients, creatives and directors to tell the most inspiring stories.
DB Casting has been coordinating real people campaigns for over 10 years.
Real People casting requires legwork, networking, and personal connections. DB Casting has managed campaigns with casting teams as small as 3 and as large as 40. These campaigns are are spread across the world, requiring local casting directors and teams to be sub-contracted, vetted, and directed.
COORS LIGHT
72 and Sunny and Coors Light wanted to spotlight real entrepreneurs, visionaries and heroes. They created a documentary-style content series that centered on real-life accounts of resilient people who continually “climb on” by overcoming personal challenges to reach their goals. DB Casting found a series of amazing people that would be featured in the ongoing campaign. We searched through social media, read local news papers and made cold calls to find some outstanding, inspirational stories. Featured here is Shezi the fashion designer and heart surgery survivor.
TRUTH
Dina has been working with Truth for 5 years now. This Emmy award winning campaign you are about to see is designed to help young people understand the dangers of opioid misuse and addiction and the role they can play in creating change. DB Casting was asked to search for young adults who were highly addicted to opioids and would be willing to let us follow and film their detox and road to recovery. DB contacted over 1000 rehabilitation facilities, 300 AA and NA centers and hit the streets talking to hundreds of opioid users and drug dealers in Los Angeles. DB Casting found Rebekkah who we are thrilled to say is almost 5 years sober, married with a beautiful baby girl and now works as an assistant at DB Casting. She continues to inspire and amaze us every single day.
The Trevor Project
DB Casting has been working with The Trevor Project for over a year now. They have been working on campaigns that make sure that LGBTQ young people who need support know they are not alone. The Trevor Project is the world’s largest suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning) young people. Everyones story is different. Many young LGBTQ young people still face challenges. Dina and the DB team continue to search the country for inspiring individuals that will share their story with us to help others not feel so alone and scared.
